Roseville is a former railroad town that has grown into a major suburb in Placer County. The intersection of the California Central Railroad and the Central Pacific Railroad was once simply known as the “Junction”. It soon became named Roseville, and as the home of some of the Southern Pacific Railroad facilities, it grew in population in the early 1900s. The area saw another big surge of growth in the past thirty years, and its now where 125,000 people live. In 2008, the city was named as one of the top 100 small cities in the country by CNN.
